Get first-hand news about the recently launched German hyperspectral mission EnMAP, its science program as well as machine learning and artificial intelligence approaches to data processing at the 12th EARSeL Workshop on Imaging Spectroscopy to be held in Potsdam from June 22-24, 2022. After the commissioning phase EnMAP data will be available on EO-Lab.

The workshop series of the EARSeL Special Interest Group on Imaging Spectroscopy has consequently been attracting an increasingly international and interdisciplinary audience and is being recognized as one of the leading conferences on imaging spectroscopy for Earth Observation in Europe and worldwide. The workshop topics include but are not limited to:

Advanced methods for (imaging) spectroscopy

  • Spectral and radiometric sensor calibration, atmospheric and geometric correction procedures, uncertainty quantification, product validation
  • Data analysis approaches such as machine learning and big data mining, data fusion and software toolboxes
  • Radiative transfer models, retrieval schemes and data assimilation techniques
  • Lab/field spectroscopy and spectral libraries

Imaging spectroscopy application in Earth sciences

  • Upscaling and downscaling of imaging spectroscopy data in modelling the Earth spheres
  • Imaging spectroscopy for the assessment of ecosystem processes in a range of environments and application fields including arable lands and forests, soils, geology, snow & ice, inland & coastal waters, urban areas
  • Imaging spectroscopy for observing natural and man-made hazards and supporting societal challenges such as climate change mitigation and adaptation, food security, water availability, and biodiversity conservation

Imaging spectroscopy sensors, platforms and missions

  • Ground/tower, multi-angular, drone, air and space-borne spectroscopy platforms
  • Synergies and collaboration among missions
  • Emerging sensor concepts and future spectroscopy satellite missions
